Now that we're half way through 2010 I thought it was time for an update and some announcements.

As a result of successful negotiations and new contracts we're excited to announce some rate reductions we are able to pass on to you, beginning on July 1st. Read more about how this will save you money below in our newsletter.

Unlimitel just secured it's new network contract for the next 2 years and added 25% more channel capacity to serve our growing customer base. According to our estimates, our original switch will be at full capacity in the next few months so we're in the process of commissioning a second carrier-class telephony switch. The new carrier-class switch will allow our customer base to grow by another 100% in the next 3 years.

Unlimitel is also proud to announce that as of August 1st, we will have a total of 104 PRI-T1's connected to our VoIP network. This officially makes Unlimitel one of the largest VoIP providers for IP-PBX customers in Canada.

The IP-PBX industry is still going strong and weathered the '08/'09 recession well. Business customers now realize that VoIP-PBX systems have full feature sets and are no longer just for tech enthusiasts. In turn, customers are also more educated about all the new options available on their IP-PBX systems. To help our resellers deploy reliable IP-PBX servers, we are just about to release a new version of our free IP-PBX. Read more about the new features below.

As always, we would like to thank our customers for using Unlimitel's VoIP services.

Unlimitel is dropping the incoming toll-free per minute charge of 3.3cents/minute to 2.9cents/minute for Canada and USA originations, effective July 1st.

Our standard of service will remain the same and we will continue to provide you with the best possible connections. After a great deal of research and trials we have found that by using Bell for our toll-free services we can give you the best overall quality.

With this solution you can expect NO blocked calls due to congestion. Channel congestion has been common when using other providers for our toll-free services, but through our arrangement with Bell we have eliminated the issue. Our voice quality is virtually perfect. All Unlimitel calls are routed through the TDM network and in order to preserve call quality we do not accept to resell toll-free services from other VoIP providers.

And there's more... Our Line Number Portability (LNP - process to transfer your existing telephone number to Unlimitel) transfer fee will drop from $35.00 to $20.00 per request, effective July 1st.  Enjoy our new price the next time you need to transfer a telephone number from your current provider to Unlimitel.

New PBX *Coming soon

Here is a look at the changes coming in our next free IP-PBX version:

Keep watching our newsletter for the release of our new free IP-PBX software/distribution.

LNP Developments

One of our goals for the year was to reduce our Line Number Portability (LNP) process down to less than 6 days. As of June 1st, Unlimitel has transitioned to Bell's internal Line Number Portability (LNP) management tool. This change has allowed to meet our goal and reduce the wait time from 30 days down to 5 business days in most cases.

Additionally, we are able to detect any issues with the LNP request within 24 hours, reducing port times even further.
